There may be fractures of one or both condyles. There is the formation of haemarthrosis and the there is a doughy swelling of the knee.

This condition requires prompt aspiration of the haemarthrosis. Treatment may be by closed or open reduction.

Complications include stiffness of the knee joint and osteoarthritis.
