Hiccups due to gastric distension may be helped by a preparation combining antacid with antiflatulent such as:

  • asilone suspension 10ml four times/day

If this fails, add a prokinetic drug such as:

  • metoclopramide 10mg 6-8 hourly orally or i.m.

If this also fails, try:

  • chlorpromazine e.g. 25mg bd
