  • elixirs - which may improve compliance in both the young and elderly, but may have some adverse effects
  • enteric coating, which has to an extent been superceded by:
    • slow or modified release
    • sublingual tablet } these are able to
    • suppositories } avoid first pass metabolism
    • inhalation - delivers dose to a specific site
