There are at least three types of natiuretic peptides in humans. They are made from similar polypeptide structures but are coded for by diffent genes.

Types include:

  • atrial natiuretic peptide, ANP
  • brain natiuretic peptide: found in porcine brain but in human heart
  • CNP, found in human brains but not hearts
