Saddle sensation

Saddle sensation is the sensation in the so-called saddle region around the buttocks and anus. It is supplied by the S3 to S5 nerve roots.

It may be lost if there is a cauda equina lesion, and the latter is one differential if there is associated urinary incontinence.
