Clinical features that may be seen in patient with hyperlipidaemia include cholesterol deposits on the eyelid (xanthelasmas), corneal arcus, cholesterol deposits in the skin (xanthomas). In rare instances, lipaemia retinalis (turbid blood in retinal vessels) may be seen on ophthalmic examination.

In cases where the hyperlipidaemia is secondary to other conditions such as hypothyroidism or renal failure then features of these conditions will also be present.
