This is very uncommon in the UK. However, it is a common manifestation of tuberculosis world-wide. If infection of the gastrointestinal tract occurs with Mycobacterium tuberculosis usually occurs in the ileocaecal region. Intestinal tuberculosis is a condition that is usually identified in patients under investigation for inflammatory bowel disease or malignancy.
