Lens-induced

The lens may induce glaucoma by:

  • lens swelling, pushing the iris forwards and blocking the drainage angle

  • lens capsule rupture with protein release and inflammatory angle blockage - also results in anterior uveitis

  • displacement of the lens into the anterior chamber or pupil

Treatment is medical to control the intra-ocular pressure, then surgical removal of the lens.
