Investigations may include:

  • examination of relatives with a Wood's light
  • CT or MRI imaging of the brain to detect tubers and calcification; it is important to detect any tubers which may obstruct CSF flow, particularly at the foramen of Monro
  • echocardiography if any cardiac rhabdomyomas are suspected
