  • pemphigus vegetans:
    • has striking papillomatous proliferations in skin flexures

  • pemphigus foliaceus:
    • superficial erosions and short-lived blisters
    • is endemic in parts of South America and only affects adults

  • pemphigus erythematosus:
    • blisters arise on sun-exposed parts
    • has features of lupus erythematosus with anti-nuclear antibodies
