Platinum containing drugs are alkylating agents with 2 chloride atoms which interact with N7 or guanine forming strand cross linking.

Examples are cisplatin and carboplatin.

They have many side effects including vomiting, nephrotoxicity etc., and are used in the treatment of ovarian cancer, testicular cancer, and small cell lung cancer
