There are several types of congenital diaphragmatic hernia:

  • hernia through the foramen of Morgagni, typically on the right
  • hernia through the foramen of Bochdalek, typically on the left
  • hernia through a deficiency within the whole central tendon
  • hernia through a congenitally large oesophageal hiatus
