Gastric irritation or peptic ulceration is more likely to occur with:

  • NSAID's or steroids
  • previous history of peptic ulcer
  • elderly or debilitated patients
  • Helicobacter pylori infection
  • smoking or (excessive) alcohol
  • especially combinations of these risk factors
