In majority of cases, investigations are not necessary.

  • vaginal and endocervical swabs if indicated
  • a urinalysis to reveal any UTI
  • a pelvic ultrasound – to check for hydrosalpinx and fibroids
  • laparoscopy if deep dyspareunia and cause is not apparent on examination (1)
