The clinical features of a transient ischaemic attack are highly dependent upon the arterial territory affected:

Carotid artery TIA - 90%:

Vertebro-basilar artery TIA's - 7% - are more diverse:

TIA's of uncertain vascular territory - 3% - have patterns which are difficult to fit into either anterior or posterior circulation TIA's e.g. dysarthria with hemiparesis.
