Albumin is an important plasma protein with a molecular weight of 66 000. It is synthesised by hepatocytes and has a normal plasma concentration of 35 to 50 g per litre. It has a half life in plasma of 20 days.

Note that different laboratories may vary with respect to their reference ranges.
