Prevalence of the condition varies widely from country to country

  • in non-population based studies 3-12.5% of men and 6-20% of women report symptoms of Raynaud's phenomenon.
  • a UK general practice­based study reported Raynaud phenomenon in 19% of patients attending surgeries and in 15% of patients responding to a postal survey, with more women being affected than men (2)
  • average age is lower in women than in men
  • higher prevalence is seen in colder climates
