St John's wort and cyclosporin

Last reviewed dd mmm yyyy. Last edited dd mmm yyyy

Authoring team

St John's wort interacts with cyclosporin and leads to reduced cyclosporin levels.

Suggested management of patients already taking SJW preparations:

  • check cyclosporin levels and stop SJW

  • note that there may be an increase in cyclosporin levels on stopping SJW

  • it may be necessary to adjust the cyclosporin dose
