The epiphyseal dysplasias are conditions that are characterized by flattened, fragmented or irregular epiphyses. The earliest feature of an epiphyseal dysplasia may be delay in development of certain epiphyses.

Epiphyseal dysplasias can be broadly categorised as those with spinal involvement - the spondolyoepiphyseal dysplasias - and those without spinal involvement - the multiple or polyepiphyseal dysplasias. Many patients cannot readily be classified into either of the two categories.
