This is the result of neural degeneration of the conduction system.

It is characterized by:-

  • long QT interval
  • ventricular arrhythmias
  • recurrent syncope
  • sudden death

Causes include:-

  • neurological disease
  • electrolyte imbalance
  • cardiac toxicity eg from cardiac or psychotropic drugs
