Indications:

  • infections due to sensitive Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria. Surgical prophylaxis.

Cautions include:

  • penicillin sensitivity
  • pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • renal impairment

NB Beware false positive Coomb's test and urinary glucose.

Contra-indications:

  • cephalosporin hypersensitivity
  • porphyria

Side-effects:
