Supine is an adjective describing the patient or cadaver in the anatomical position and lying on their back with face upwards. Alternatively, supine can refer to the position of the forearm with the palm of the hand facing anteriorly in the anatomical position.
Supination is the act of assuming a supine posture.
Supine should be contrasted with the adjective prone.
