The tricuspid valve surrounds the right atrioventricular orifice of the heart between the right atrium and the right ventricle. In terms of surface anatomy, it is located deep to the body of the sternum at the level of the fourth and fifth intercostal spaces.

It may be considered in terms of the:

  • atrioventricular orifice
  • annulus, the fibrous skeleton surrounding the valve
  • valve leaflets
  • chordae tendineae
