High doses of chlorpromazine may induce a phototoxic response when the patient is exposed to sunlight, either direct or transmitted through glass.
Characteristically, there is burning, erythema, swelling and later, frank eczema. Rarely, a golden brown or slate grey pigmentation may be seen in the exposed sites.
