The side effects of antimuscarinic drugs include:

  • dry mouth with difficulty swallowing and thirst
  • dilation of the pupils with difficulty accommodating and sensitivity to light - i.e. blurred vision
  • increased intraocular pressure
  • hot and flushed skin
  • dry skin
  • bradycardia followed by tachycardia, palpitations and arrhythmias
  • difficulty with micturition - urinary retention
  • constipation

More rarely:

  • fever
  • confusion, mania, hallucinations
  • rashes
