Non-inflammatory synovial fluid

In non-inflammatory conditions the amount of white cells in synvoial fluid is usually less than 2000 WBCs/microlitre with less thn 75% neutrophils.

Examples include:

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Trauma
  • Charcot's joint
  • Pancreatitis
  • Haemochromatosis
  • Acromegaly
  • Glucocorticoid withdrawal
  • Hypertophic osteoarthropathy
  • Avascular necrosis
  • Pigmented villonodular synovitis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
