These are a group of diseases which are characterised by histological and functional damage to the tubules and the interstitium of the kidney.

The main types of tubulo-interstitial disease are:

  • chronic pyelonephritis
  • drug-induced tubulo-interstitial nephritis
  • metabolic tubulo-interstitial nephritis
  • malignant tubulo-interstitial nephritis
