Inattention(sensory and visual)

In a patient with sensory and visual inattention, if both sides of the patient are tested simultaneously, e.g. for touch, then the stimulus is appreciated only on the side contralateral to a normal parietal hemisphere. Hence, on asking a patient with a right-sided hemispheric lesion to indicate which hand is being touched - and despite the examiner touching both hands - there will be appreciation of a stimulus only on the left side.

This is present in a lesion of the parietal lobe - dominant or non-dominant.
