Horse chestnut seed (Aesculus hippocastanum) extract for chronic venous insufficiency:

  • a systematic review has been undertake to review the use of horse chestnut seed extract (HCSE) for chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) (1)
    • the study authors concluded that the evidence presented implied that HCSE is an efficacious and safe short-term treatment for CVI. However, several caveats exist and more rigorous RCTs are required to confirm the efficacy of this treatment option (1)
