Group 1 entitlement:

  • driving may continue after satisfactory medical (blood pressure control) or surgical treatment, unless other disqualifying condition
  • DVLA need not be notified

Group 2 entitlement:

  • re/licensing may be permitted if ALL of the following criteria can be met:
    • the maximum transverse diameter of the aorta, including false lumen/thrombosed segment, does not exceed 5.5cm
    • there is complete thrombosis of the false lumen
    • the BP is well controlled
      • note well controlled refers to clinical, NOT DVLA licensing standard.
