An aspergilloma is is a tangled mass composed of hyphae, fibrin, and inflammatory cells, that lies free in the lung cavity. Aspergillomata may form in cavities produced by previous lung diseases e.g. tuberculosis, abscesses, or areas of pulmonary infarction. It is usually caused by A. fumigatus.
