Coxsackie viruses are enteroviruses, ie picornaviruses, which cause the following diseases:

  • hand foot and mouth syndrome, types A5, A10 and A16.
  • Bornholm disease
  • herpangina
  • myocarditis in children, and particulary type B in neonates
