A number of miscellaneous procedures are carried out in the resuscitation room:

  • if there are circumferential burns, incision may be required - escharotomy. This is particularly relevant for the neck when pressure on the larynx may be relieved.

  • the patient should also receive tetanus prophylaxis before transfer to the admitting team.
