These are usually stable injuries - with the exception of a fracture dislocation of the thumb - and once any rotational deformity has been corrected, respond well to splintage of the finger in a volar slab extending from below the elbow to the proximal finger joint.

The splint is usually removed after 3 weeks and then exercises encouraged.
