Cellulose is a complex polysaccharide component of cell walls. It is composed of glucose subunits joined by beta 1,4 bonds.

It cannot be digested by Man because amylase only attacks alpha 1,4 linkages. Hence, it constitutes one of the key components of dietary fibre.
