Brachioradialis is one of the muscles of the forearm. In the anatomical position, it rests at the margin of flexor and extensor compartments.

It originates from the:

  • superior two thirds of the lateral supracondylar ridge of the humerus
  • lateral intermuscular septum

It passes distally over the elbow joint to insert into the proximal part of the styloid process of the radius

It acts to:

  • flex the forearm at the elbow
  • pronate the forearm to the midprone position

Brachioradialis is innervated by the radial nerve (C5-7).
