Diabetic dermopathy

These are small rounded plaques with raised borders lying in a linear fashion over the shins. In late diabetic dermopathy these may present as pigmented scars

  • a common nonspecific condition affecting as many as 30%-60% of DM patients (1)
  • occurrence of lesions correlate with retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy (2)
