Osteomyelitis is the infection of bone marrow.

Organisms may reach the bone via the blood or through direct invasion following trauma or surgery.

The most common consequence is a pyogenic osteomyelitis. Tuberculosis may cause a chronic granulomatous osteomyelitis.
