There are a variety of characteristic presentations of myasthenia gravis:

  • Group I - ocular myasthenia gravis - symptoms remain confined to the ocular muscles.
  • Group IIA, B - mild or moderately severe generalised myasthenia gravis
  • Group III - acute severe disease with respiratory muscle involvement
  • Group IV - late chronic disease - pelvic and lower limbs may be involved
