Many psychopaths become better adjusted on reaching their thirties.

Follow-up studies show that at least some subjects with severe forms of psychopathy improve in terms of survival in the community, employment, remaining unconvicted, and maintaining marriage over time.

Notes:

  • NICE suggest that the course of antisocial personality disorder is variable and although recovery is attainable over time, some people may continue to experience social and interpersonal difficulties
    • antisocial personality disorder is often comorbid with depression, anxiety, and alcohol and drug misuse
