In the majority of people, the apicoposterior segmental bronchus of the left superior lobe bronchus ramifies to form the segmental bronchi of the apical and posterior bronchopulmonary segments. In a small minority, the apical and posterior segmental bronchi arise directly from the superior lobe bronchus.
