There must be at least 2 cm of non-affected penile shaft at the base. Care must be taken to fashion the new urethral meatus to avoid causing stricture. There is sufficient shaft remaining for adequate urinary direction.

The patient should be reviewed regularly to assess the inguinal nodes and to look for local recurrence.
