Brill-Zinsser disease is a condition occurring when there is a recrudescence of typhus.
The illness is milder and lasts for less time than with the preceding attack of epidemic typhus, and may be accompanied by a rash similar to that in the epidemic typhus.
This condition has a mortality lower than that of epidemic typhus, at about one or two percent of patients.
