Maroteaux-Lamy syndrome is a lysosomal storage disease caused by defects in the enzyme arylsulphatase B.

The disease is similar to:

  • MPS IV because somatic features are prominent but intellectual dysfunction is absent
  • MPS I because there is a similar pattern of somatic involvement
