Ectopic ureter

An ectopic ureter is one which does not discharge urine into the bladder. It may be single or bilateral.

In women, the opening is usually within the vagina or onto the perineum. Presentation is with true incontinence.

Treatment is by excision of the ectopic ureter and the upper pole of the kidney which it drains.
