Septicaemic plague

This is a form of Yersinia pestis infection which presents as a fulminant acute infection.

There is evidence of disseminated intravascular coagulation and shock and if untreated the patient will usually die within the next two to five days.

Lymphadenopathy is not usually a feature in this condition.
