  • the family origin questionnaire has been developed by the NHS sickle cell and thalassaemia programme for use in antenatal screening for haemoglobin disorders in low prevalence areas to identify couples who may benefit from sickle cell and thalassaemia screening due to non-North European ancestry. The couple's country of origin may also indicate which of the sickle cell disorders and thalassaemias may be more prevalent
