Medical approaches include:

  • dapsone
  • topical, systemic, and intralesional corticosteroids
    • intralesional and topical steroids are treatment options for localised granuloma annulare

There is no "gold standard" treatment approach for granuloma annulare and other agents that have shown benefit for the treatment of disseminated granuloma annulare include:

  • gold and bismuth injections
  • antimalarial agents
  • isoniazid
  • potassium arsenite
  • colchicine
  • clofazimine
  • isotretinoin
  • niacinamide
  • Psoralen plus ultraviolet A therapy
  • fumaric acid esters
  • infliximab (a TNF-alpha inhibitor)
  • topical tacrolimus 0.1% ointment , and topical pimecrolimus 1% cream
