Exclusions from work, school and other institutional settings

General guidance from Public Health England states:

  • all persons with gastroenteritis should be considered as potentially infectious to others and excluded from work, school or other institutional and social settings until a minimum of 48 hours symptoms free/no loose stools.

Specific more detailed guidance may vary with the infective organism involved.
