Hepatic porphyrias:

Erythropoietic porphyrias:

  • erythropoietic porphyria (EP)

Hepatic / erythropoietic:

  • hepatoerythropoietic porphyria (HEP)

In hepatic porphyrias there is excess hepatic production of porphobilinogen. In erythropoietic porphyrias there is increased production of porphyrins in red blood cells due to enzyme deficiency.
